The team of JSC Titanium Institute

How 70 years of experience in research, engineering design and project development are providing the foundation for a new stage in the Institute’s development is explained by Viktor Brener, CEO of JSC Titanium Institute, and Dmytro Novosad, company representative.

Company Profile

JSC Titanium Institute is a research, engineering design and project engineering organisation with a 70-year history. The Institute specialises in technologies for non-ferrous metallurgy and the chemical industry and has experience across the full production cycle — from raw-material studies and technology development to the design of industrial facilities, commissioning and modernisation of production plants.

Its areas of expertise include technologies for the production of titanium and zirconium powders, the processing of critical raw materials, and the recovery of rare and rare-earth components. The Institute works with both Ukrainian and international clients. In 2025, 100% of the shares in JSC Titanium Institute were sold at a privatisation auction held by the State Property Fund of Ukraine. The winning bidder was NOVOBUDENERGO LLC, which acquired the shareholding for UAH 30.4 million, excluding VAT.

Preserving the Engineering Tradition and Developing New Technologies

In industry, some of the most valuable assets are difficult to reflect on a balance sheet: accumulated knowledge, professional experience, established schools of engineering and design, and the ability to take a complex technology through to industrial implementation and stable production of saleable products.

Titanium Institute is a research, engineering design and project engineering organisation with a 70-year history and extensive experience in the industrial implementation of solutions for non-ferrous metallurgy and the chemical industry. We have always regarded the Institute as a platform for developing new technological and industrial solutions.

Viktor Brener, CEO of JSC Titanium Institute

Over the decades, the Institute has built a team capable of working across the entire production cycle for metallic titanium and titanium products, carrying out raw-material studies, developing new technologies, designing industrial facilities and equipment, and supporting the construction, commissioning and modernisation of production plants.

The Institute’s structure brings together research, engineering design and project engineering capabilities. This enables it to deliver the full scope of work — from raw-material studies and process development to the preparation of project documentation, industrial implementation and bringing production facilities up to their target performance parameters.

The new owner’s first strategic decision was therefore to preserve and further develop the core competencies of JSC Titanium Institute.

Dmytro Novosad, company representative

Titanium remains at the core of the Institute’s activities. At the same time, market demand is expanding: industry needs new materials for additive manufacturing, technologies for processing critical raw materials, and methods for recovering valuable components from industrial waste streams and by-products.

This demand defines the Institute’s second strategic area of development. Within this field, the team is advancing technologies for the production of titanium and zirconium powders, as well as raw-material processing technologies for the recovery of critical, rare and rare-earth components, including gallium, germanium, silicon, scandium, vanadium, zirconium and hafnium. This is not about general research, but practical work with specific raw materials and industrial process streams. The Institute carries out R&D, determines process parameters, develops experimental and pilot-scale units, prepares feasibility studies, designs production facilities and develops solutions suitable for industrial implementation.

For clients, the key value lies in having a single team of specialists capable of developing and guiding a project through the entire technological route.

JSC Titanium Institute studies the characteristics of raw materials, identifies the most appropriate processing route and, where necessary, develops its own technology for recovering the valuable component. The team then conducts laboratory and pilot-scale testing, prepares technological and project documentation, defines equipment requirements, supports implementation and helps bring production up to the planned performance parameters.

Every stage of the work is supported by the Institute’s own Centre for Analytical Control, Standardisation and Product Certification. This makes it possible to monitor the characteristics of raw materials, intermediate products and final products, verify compliance with specified requirements, and obtain the data required for subsequent technology scale-up.

This model reduces technological uncertainty before capital-intensive decisions are made and brings together science, engineering design, project development and production within a single managed system.

Today, JSC Titanium Institute works with both Ukrainian and international clients.

For Ukrainian partners, this creates opportunities to develop domestic production chains, make more efficient use of mineral resources and secondary industrial raw materials, modernise production facilities and manufacture products with higher added value.

For international companies, cooperation with the Institute provides access to Ukrainian engineering expertise, adaptation of technologies to local raw materials, infrastructure and the specific conditions of individual production sites, as well as opportunities for the joint implementation of industrial projects.

At present, contracts with international clients account for the majority of JSC Titanium Institute’s order portfolio. At the same time, we have the expertise and are ready to contribute to the reconstruction, modernisation and technical upgrading of Ukraine’s industrial enterprises.

The Institute’s team of scientists, technologists, engineers and designers can undertake both large-scale projects involving the creation and modernisation of industrial production facilities and individual technological and engineering assignments for small and medium-sized enterprises across metallurgy, chemicals, energy, mechanical engineering, food processing and other industrial sectors.

As JSC Titanium Institute marks its 70th anniversary, we regard its history as capital for the next stage of development. Our task is to combine the team’s professional experience and unique knowledge with entrepreneurial agility, investment discipline and new partnerships.

Our task is to combine the team’s professional experience and unique knowledge with entrepreneurial agility, investment discipline and new partnerships.

This is how Ukraine’s engineering tradition can strengthen the competitiveness of Ukrainian industry and compete successfully in the global market.
